how do you optimize your setup? So recently there has been a lot about optimizing your setup. Can someone shed some light on this. hw does one go about;

Optimizing quench -- Fairly simple here. Measure your piston height and choose the appropriate gasket to give you the quench you desire. Example: Your piston is "out of the hole .010". You want your quench to be .035". Add the 2 together and you get a .045" thick gasket.
DCR -- choose the appropriate SCR and valve events to get the compression you want. It's easiest to use a DCR calculator.
matching heads to a cam -- There's no set rules for this. It is usaully application specific. Even the best grinders may not "nail it" on the first go round. I hate to say it, but trial and error is a big part of truly "matching" a combo.
valvetrain harmonics -- This is just a case of choosing the right parts for the job. Some people like to shim the springs to .050" of coil bind for stability, but even then, if you choose the wrong spring for the cam, you could still have trouble. You want your valvetrain to remain light, as not to cause undo stress that could cause harmonics. This is why alot of people stay away from aftermarket rockers. Checking install heights on the valves is also something that should be done so you can get the correct spring heights.
