Default Runner Length for LS1 Cylinder Head: How to measure?

How do you accurately measure runner length in a cylinder head?

Also, what is the cylinder head runner length for the ls1 head's intake port?

I seen that thread, thanks.

It still did not answer my question

I just seen "ideas" on how long the runner length is. Anywhere from 4-5 inches?

Also, how do you measure correctly?

Looks to me like Old Stroker said the runner length was 5 inches inside the LS1 head. Total length was 14 inches. That would make the actual runner 9 inches in length.

You could get an average port length by measuring the length of the top of the port from valve seat to manifold flange and at the bottom of the port and averaging the two.

The particle flow may not exactly follow the centerline of the port, but the tuning pulses, which are moving at the local speed of sound, many times faster than the particle flow, fill the whole port and effectively see the average port length.

So when it comes to measuring:

- String the backside (long) of the port all the way to the outside of the valve against the port wall.

- String the frontside (short side) of the port all the way to the inside of the valve against the port wall.

Then average them?

So when someone talks about runner length, are they talking about average runner length?

I just seen that you said it was CLOSE to 5". Does anyone know exactly what it is and how they got that information?

Is the intake 10.35" or 15" of runner length. I have seen both posted
