Default Lights in steering wheel controls

How do you get to them? And are they changeable?

Tim, carefully pull the switch assemblies out of the steering wheel, there is one assembly on each side of the wheel, and all three buttons make up one assembly. It is just pushed into the wheel from the front side.

Once you pry/slide an assembly out (wires will still be attached), you will see that the three buttons are held on by a cover with a few little snap clips on the outside of the assembly "box".

Pry those little snap clips open and remove the switch assembly cover, and you will see the little light bulb inside of the assembly. There is only one bulb in there (its not an LED) and it has a red rubber slip-cover over it (this is what makes the light appear red at night). You can break off the bulb, exposing the two contacts that power it. Might find a replacement bulb and just solder it in place.

One of mine burned out a long time ago, so I just opened up the other side and busted the bulb so both would stay off <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Cool, thanks for the info Tony.
As far as breaking off the other side, I don't think my wife would go for that. This is in her car. LOL
