Automatic shift boot install

I just purchased a Redline Goods shift boot for my 2000 A4 TA. I think I understand how it is supposed to install, but I cannot get it to work, it appears the boot is too long. The instructions on their website are not very clear. I can get it in, but its all bunched up and makes it very difficult to shift. Does anyone have any tips or pointers for going about this install. Pictures would be great.

I have one installed. I trimmed mine a little to get it to fit some what decent. To be honest I do not like the shift boot from redline. The fit is not the greatest. i will be removing mine.

I went to a junk yard and pulled the shifter handle and boot off of a Grand Prix. I cut it shorter on the sides and kept it a little longer on the ends, tucked it in with the flat tip short bit from my leatherman and after a few adjustments here and there I got it to stay put. Total cost was under five bucks. Takes a couple of minutes to clean the boot up with some Armor All but in the end It's worth it cause i figured that if i screwed up the cut and install, then i can always go back to the junk yard and pick up another for a buck or two.

I had to trim my redline boot alittle as well...once you mess around with it to get it right it fits well and looks great.

i have problems with mine as well... when in park the back of the boot pulls up a little.

Well maybe i'm not installing it right(if there is such a way). I will have to grab a couple pics of what i am dealing with. Does anyone think they could snap some pics of theirs? A pic from underneath the console would be awesome.

I'm folding the boot under the console then bolting down the actual shifter plate on it with the 4 bolts. Not sure if thats how it should go or if i should take apart the black plastic slots and wedge it in between.

I have yet to install the e-brake boot so i will install that with the shifter boot later this week. I am very pleased with the console cover though.
