That would be awesome... If I were to consider doing the push-button start, I would also want to eliminate the key in to the mix...

I would imagine something with the BCM would have to be done or changed out for the vette one.

hmmm. you could probably put some kind of switch or relay in if you had a carputer and have the carputer turn the wire on when your bluetooth phone were near...

that would be worth doing. except what happens if you are in gear? i can see myself getting in with someone and they say cool, press it before i step on the clutch, and boom.

Wow now thats not a bad idea! Use your cell phone instead of the key fob. just get in and push button. Of course you would still need a fob to unlock the doors...

^ carputer. thats already been done. heck you could roll down the windows, start the car, put down/up a convertible top, all with ur cell if u have a carputer (automatically when approaching or by button).

idk if anyone's used it as a key but i dont see why not. would cost like $10 and even if it is technically easy to hack bluetooth wireless (i have no idea if it is), what car thief would look for that?

i've got a carputer but the comp would have to be on when you get in, which I can't have. With a dedicated system, the battery drainage is so low that the battery can power it for weeks or months without even starting the car. Not so with a carputer.

For ZMonster and anyone else, a carputer is a pc computer that is embedded in a car usually with a touchscreen. On mine I can pair my bluetooth phone with it, have my entire music collection on the hard drive, and can surf the web as well as use it for GPS. Truly its the **** but there are a lot of hurdles to make it work perfectly.

If you want more info, look at www.mp3car.com its all about car computers.

^ in hibernation, you can choose what runs (at least in my vista laptop). just choose to have a small program searching as an exception. should be less power than an alarm system.

if i go through with getting a carputer ill try this. that shouldn't be until the summer though.

whats the point in modding our cars at all then?
Well modding a car to go faster is a hell of a lot cooler than putting some button in it to start it lol

to be fair, your interior is going to be seen more than your engine bay. and people put hundreds into that. this mod is dirt cheap.

I think putting the push button start in the cigarette lighter like most guys do is dumb. the S2000 is such a purpose built car. Every control for music, HVAC, lighting and the start button are within inches of each other in front of the driver. the passenger side is bare except for one vent. Having a start button as far away from the driver as the cig lighter is completely pointless. also the S2K can ONLY be started by the push button. there is only a on and off position in the ignition.
Now having the button somehow located where our lighting controls are would be kinda cool.

i found a thread on this. ive only read 2 pages out of 23 but it discusses it.

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/hard...-access-2.html

it discusses the trunk too. if you wired the trunk popper to a switch, splitting it from the one in cabin, and had a press button where the keyhole is, you could easily pop the trunk. just have the wire connect when you are close like the ignition.
