Awesome... I'm going to steal this idea. Was there any prep work involved to the pieces that were painted? Or did you just paint them and put a clear coat over?

yup prep is key!

first i took off all the pieces, and took out the air vents. i washed them and scrubbed them pretty good with hot water and dish soap. if u scrubbed them well when they dry they shouldn't be shiny at all. i then lightly sanded them with some 600 grit (i wanted to keep the texture), and washed them again.
then,
i sprayed several coats of adhesive promoter
followed by a few coats of primer
then several coats of paint
and then a bunch of some clear enamel i had

and thats pretty much it

Hm... being that my job is actually mixing paint, you would think that I'd want to do all this the "right way". But I'm gonna try doing it with just sandpaper, spray paint, and my leftover clear coat :]

Do you think a reflective chrome finish would be to cheesy?

like it man. I am debating on whether or not to paint mine white to match the body color, but it would be odd I think. I am not sure though I want to see someone with it done first. I think I can pull off the silver though because of my emblems are outlined in silver and my stb is silver etc.

I think the darker the color, the better it will look. simply because everything else inside our cars is black. silver would look pretty good
