Downside to having TOO much tire?

Downside to having TOO much tire? What is the downside of having too much tire other than cost?
It'll probably be a couple yrs before I actually NEED a 11.5" tire. But I figured I would just go for it right off the bat.

Re: Downside to having TOO much tire? you will run slower and have greater rolling resistance. It is best to have the smallest/lightest rim and tire while still being able to hook well.

ps- I am going with a 15x7 inch Centerline Warrior rim and a 26x9 inch Hoosier slick. That should hold 1.4 sixties pretty well.
