Default Any SS hood modifications

Anyone ever saw a modification to the stock SS hood for improved airflow. There’s the Cool Air Induction mod. (taking air from the radiator area) but never seen anything to improve the original hoods flow design.
I’m sure better air flow could be achieved with a smaller bug screen, would required more frequent cleaning of filter element perhaps. Not sure if there are any restrictive areas in the air ducts but that might be improved also. Better sealing at the air box could surely be improved and possibly enlarged.
Just wondering if anyone has seen a good modification in this area.

ReactiveSS, I have substantially increased the airflow on my 2001 SS. It has been proven effective. The way they come from the factory leaves a lot to be desired. Basically I raised the aftermarket airbox as much as I could still allowing the hood to close and opened up the inlet on the hood (bottom side) about an inch on the top to allow the airflow to line up with the airbox opening.I also sealed the airbox/hood inlet with weather stripping. This modification is most effective during cooler months as the hood will serve as an air heater during warmer weather. Cold air produces power.I did the FRA mod also so I can block off the hood inlet if I felt the heat was causing a neg. effect in the summer. The FTRA is a great product , but I have concerns of water here in Houston and realistically , when the air is hot in Tx , it's still hot air going in through the bottom on the FTRA also. I am very satisfied with my set up. I've turned 11.98s through the stock exhaust manifolds in an A4 , so I must be doing something right. Your welcome to take a look at mine. I live in Pasadena, near BW8 and Fairmont. It would be easier to understand seeing it. Just let me know. Take care.

If you look at the hole under the hood infront of the air box you'll see four little openings. I cut out the three support piers and now have one big opening. People say it weekens the hood but, I did it any way. Touched up the couts and looks OEM perfect.

The SS hood does nothing for performance. Sealing and enlarging holes accomplishes zilch. The SS hood is designed so poolry (air flow - wise) that it only gives you a tiny kick over 45mph.
Don't waste your time.

The hood scoop is better served to be a mounting point for neon tubes, right Nick? <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> <img src="gr_tounge.gif" border="0"> <img src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" border="0" alt="[jester]" />
