stain removal on carpets?

stain removal on carpets? a friend of mine called me today wanting to know if i could remove some stains he had ont he carpet in his tahoe. is there anything that works welll that is available from parts store that is worth a crap and removes stubborn stains well?
when i do it, im going to obviously scrub the carpet real hard with a stiff brush to loosen the dirt, and then use warm water mixed with whatever cleaner is recommended, and a shop vac to clean it. just wondering what would be best to use with this method that is readily available at advance, oreiley's, etc.

i saerched some detailing message boards, and they all spoke of a product called Folex. big white bottle with a triggger spray. you can get it at BiLo, Lowes Home Depot, etc.....anyways it worked reallly well!

it removed dirt, blood, and some oil spots. but this carpet had transfer case fluid
(the stink stuff) spill out on it and these are being real stubborn. but i guess theres only so much you can so without a high dollar machine, correct? regardless, im impressed with the stuff!
