Default help 5 inch Tach problem (ASAP)

i have a 98 z28 and need to know how to put a 5 inch autometer tach in my car. i am not sure how to do it since it is a coil pack car. if some one could be so helpfull and tell me how to hook it up it would help so much. i know as far as the light wire and hot wire, it is the ignition wire i need to know about. i would appreciate any help.
THANKS ALL...

The wire that picks up the rpm signal needs to be connected to the white wire (pin 35) in the BLUE (labeled blue, if I remember correctly) connector closest to the bottom of the PCM. Just connect that to the tach for the rpm signal. You will also have to set the tach to four cylinder mode by clipping the ORANGE and BROWN wire loops. I think the LS1 puts out two pulse for rpm instead of one so telling the tach its a four cylinder is how you get it to read correctly.

Quick break down:
If it has four wires coming from the tach:
White- 12V dash lighting
Red- 12V while ignitions on
Black- negative
green- PCM
For 98's: Pin 35 white wire on Blue connector
For 99-00: Pin 10 white wire on Red connector

Hope that helps!

If you unbolt the computer and pull it out of the engine bay, there is a rubber grommet behind it that leads to the inside of the car. You will have to unbolt the little plastic piece under the glove box to pull the wire through. From there you just run it under the dash behind the radio to where ever your tach is.

Has instructions and pictures of installing a shift light, which is basicly the same concept. It might better describe the 12V and 12V switched sources. Plus it has great pictures.

thanks everyone. i got in in with no major problems. it only took 3 times as long as it did no my 72 chevy truck. isn't technology wonderful? <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0"> does anyone know if they make a dimmer light to put in the tach. that thing lights up the whole interior at night.

also,i spliced into the #35 wire on the PCM. the dash tach still works. do i need to leave it alone or did i need to cut it from the PCM completly? it doesn't bother me, its just annoying that the stock tach shows 400rpm more than the auto meter does. is the stock tach ussualy off that bad?
