Default Interior Painting?

Ive searched and searched. my interior is scratched up a bit (scuffs and stuff on various parts of the plastics)

Ive got a 99 model car so I got stuck with the gray/graphite or whatever its called. and I really hate it. since my car is black with black rims and dark tint its kinda taking away from the car IMO.

Maybe its just a pet peeve of mine.

But has anoyne painted there interior.. non gay colors ? im looking to do a black/ebony on everything then cover the cloth door panel parts with leather/vinyl or something from a fabric store.

Anyone care to shine some light on this before I just go out and start spraying things down with a rattle can..

Thanks in advance

there are many things that you can do.
ive seen people dye the panels. SEM i believe is what its called.
you can sand and smooth them down and then spray paint then.
or wrap them with this http://store.specializedstainless.co.../Detail?no=156
its alittle pricey but it covers almost the whole car and comes with everything

Doing mine right now, all I needed to do was go to a good paint shop. They looked up the ebony code, mixed and put it in spray cans. Think it was like $13 bucks a can and also got product called Bulldog that helps to prep the plastic.

Just clean it good, put prep on and paint goes on smooth. Looks like they came that way and you can add a second coat if you want it a little darker.

not hard at all, ust get some vinyl heavy duty auto spray adhesive and a hair dry, take your time, it's kinda like widow tint or putting vinyl graphics.

If you want to paint the interior plastics, you'll only be able to do the hard plastic parts. Like the piece around the gauges, top of the center console, hard upper dash piece, etc. That is if you want a smooth glossy look like the body of the car. To get that look, wash the parts, wet sand em smooth with 400 grit, prime, paint and clear. If you're just looking to change the color, painting isn't what I or most would recommend. Instead replace the pieces or cover them with fake leather or suade. Good luck in whichever way you go!

Anyone got any info on the dye? or some shots of some painted pieces?

Also what can be done about the infamous door panel cracks?

Just got my center console back. I went with the carbon fiber look. Not those ghetto sticker thingies. I think it's called hydro-graphics, or something. I'll be taking better pictures later for my homepage.

The center console was $125.
The radio bezel was $80.
The vents were $30 each.
The speedo bezel's gonna cost me $60.

Is it more expensive that the sticker thingies? Yeah, but the end result...you can't even compare the two.

Well, I've spoken to the guy at Autodynamicswest who I've been working with regarding my interior pieces, and he told me that the pieces involve both the use of automotive paint and a hydro graphics process. All the pieces are hand polished. The pieces are also guaranteed for 3 years for any defects in the workmanship. Oh, they're out of Santa Ana, CA.

FYI, if you do plan to just rattle-can your interior plastics, make sure to use an Adhesion Promoter. It'll definitely help the paint look better and it'll give it a bit of flexibility so if you bend anything during resinstallation you won't fracture the paint.

Good luck w/ whatever you choose.
