Default Mecham Exhaust tips

Anybody have any pics of preferably a Formula Firebird with those tips on the exhaust? I am referring to the 7.5" oval tips.

I was considering purchasing a set to replace my Loudmouth 3.5" slash cut round tips, but don't want to shell out the funds without seeing how they look on a Formula's rear end first.

TIA,

-Bradster <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Thanks for the link, Wayne <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I've been to Mecham's site already though - I wish he had some pics of a Formula with those tips. They look great on a TA's rear end though!

Hey PowerCrap, did you have any problems installing the tips on your Loudmouth? I have a loudmouth too, but on Mecham's site it said that their tips fit exhausts that are 3" in diameter (if i read it correctly). The exhaust outlets for my LoudMouth are 2.5" (leading into 3.5" tips).

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Please post if you had any install issues.

Thanks again,

-Bradster

I just installed Meg's rolled ovals on my SS and not only do they have an awesome look, but gave the LM a louder "better" exhaust note... lowered it a couple of octives and throatier (sp?). They are 4.75" X 3.75, but when you look at them they actually make the car look like you have a fuggin' huge catback. they cone out from 2.5" to the opening over 10" creating a megaphone effect.
Check out: http://www.banzaisports.com/megs/megshome.htm
Great Stuff! Great quality! Kinda pricey but you know the saying.
I like the ones you all are looking at but you can see a 2.5" opening.....don't think they will change the "note" much either...that is if you care.
Later,
BTW, go with chrome and paint the interior with hi-temp rustoleum. The stainless is polished but requires alot of maintenance....ask CMMG owners.

When I bought the car it had 3inch Flowmaster on it and I installed the tips on some chrome tips the guy had coming out. Of course no prob there. I then replaced the exhaust w/ loudmouth. I ordered the Loudmouth while I was at college so I had nowhere to work on it so a local shop installed it for me. They cut the original chrome tip off w/ the mecham tip on it and just welded the whole thing on like that. Its not what I had planned but I guess thats what I get for not watching back in the shop this one time. I was not very satisfyied with the quality of the job but it work great and no one sees that much under there anyways. When I called the guy at Mecham to order the tips I **think** I remember asking him if it would fit a 2.5 inch pipe cause that is what I was thinking I had for some freak reason and he said there should be no problem. Now you should not have any problem getting these tips put on cause im sure any shop can fabricate something to make it work. Its not hard to do. Cause you know you can't weld on that chrome tip it has to be tightened on. Anyways I hope that is not too confusing <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I will be happy to answer any more questions.

Shoot me an email if ya want to...

Here is another site for Mecham. Thought it might be of some help...

http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Tower...am/mindex.html

BTW - you dont notice the 2.5 opening much at all on the tips. Especially if you paint it or that exhaust carbon gets all over it and makes it dark in there. Even when and if you can see it, it does not look bad at all.

Those Megs are nice but you just cant beat the Mecham "Power Oval"!! Maybe Im partial but those things are about as tough <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> as they come baby! <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Hey thanks for all the great feedback guys! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> I'll check out those MEGs tips and call mecham to see what they have to say about how well their tips will work with my (2.5") setup <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Anyway, thanks again for the info <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
