Default Aftermarket Tach Question

For those who have an aftermarket tachometer, are their readings accurate (i.e., are they faster than the stock tack)? The stocker in my car can't keep up with the revs (it's about 900rpm slow, I can tell from the shift light). I'm gonna put a small autometer tach on the steering column, but before I do this, I want to know if this will solve the problem. Given that my cam is making max HP from 6250-6700 RPMs, it's rather important that I know what the hell is going on at that range.

They are much better than the stock tach, thats the main reason I got one when I had my 6-speed, I had it set right in front of me so I could watch it along w/the road....the stock one has a bad delay....take a look at my webshots page in my profile for photos...
