Default Quick question about VHT Nite Shades procedure...

Hey guys, I'm gonna be using Nite Shades on my CL600 in the next week or so and I have a quick question. Do I need to polish the VHT before I clear them, or just spray the VHT, then the clear, then polish (as described in the write up by NOIR). I'm not trying to question his method at all...just looking for the highest gloss finish possible and I have never seen anything that's been VHT'd in person...

Thanks for the help in advance.

Also, I'm looking for a lighter smoke appearance rather than completely blacked out, and suggestion on how to get this finish as even as possible?

Well getting the lighter smoke appearance is possible if you keep the can kinda far away and only do a few light coats. I managed to do it, but it just didn't look right. If you want a smoked looked then you'll have to have a professional do it. I kinda wish I did, but eventually I redid mine and got them black with VHT basically.

Now the VHT part....you don't have to polish the VHT or anything really. I've done it two ways. I first prep the tails by sanding them down good and smooth. Then the VHT...now I've done it so i went straight to clear coat or sand down the vht before the clear coat. Either way turned out great to me, with a gloss, scratch free finish. It's pretty hard to get em perfect..lot of elbow grease

-lightly wetsand
-spray clearcoat

Thanks for the replies... And yes, I have already used that guide, just wanted some other opinions!

I would assume the light/medium smoke I'm going for is going to be challenging...so, I hope I don't screw it up!
