How does everyone keep their strut towers clean?

How does everyone keep their strut towers clean? I use the CD2 Engine Cleaning/Detailing Kit, but everytime I spray it on the strut towers, once it dries you can see where it ran down. It looks horrible. How does everyone keep theirs clean and shining?

I use a rag and spray some instant detailer in the bucket with water. I vacum first to get the sand out of there. I usally do this every 3 or 4 car washes. I wipe down under the hood every time i wash the car which is once a week so it stays pretty clean. just need some time to attack the aluminum with the mothers polish to really clean it up
