i did that to my car about 2 months ago, and love it. pewter 99 a4 z28. the headlights have been whistler modded for awhile, and then had a vinyl company make and apply the decals. they charged me $50 dollars, took couple hours.

Somebody painted this a while back & I had suggested vinyl, glad to see you decided to try it out.
I like it a lot, but I'm not so into the shape of the hockey stick stripes.

i thought about it a while back, but never had a car that was the right color to pull off the "look."

Since a lot of people seem to be liking it and it really hasn't been done a lot, that we all know about, lets name this mod. I was thinking of "black eye" or something along that line. Any other thoughts......

We always called the look of the LT1s Raccoon Eyes before somebody started referring to them as headlight buckets, so I recommend bringing back the Raccoon Eyes name.
I actually have fairly old pics of a yellow Camaro with this treatment from several years back. Here's the only one I've found:
