Removal of Rustproof Undercoating
I was wondering if there is something that can remove rustproof undercoating? When I bought my car there was rustproof undercoating in the engine bay on both sides where the strut mounts are. I've tried some engine degreaser and it took it off, but my towel was a little red so I stopped. I can't post up pictures of it because my car is getting worked on right now. Thanks for the help.

If its like rubberized undercoating isn't pretty well the only way to burn it off with a torch and scrape with a putty knife? I've never had to remove it myself, but have seen people take off undercoating. I hope you can find another way than that if its on the strut towers. No clue why the previous owner would have done that.

I think Stoner's Tarminator will help remove the stuff, but it will take a lot of elbow grease as well.
I have some rubberized undercoating on area of my Jaguar near the rear bumper. I recently detailed the car and sprayed Tarminator around the bumper. Well, I started scrubbing and noticed I was getting an excess amount of grunge on my scrubber. I knew the bumper area couldn't be that dirty, and sure enough I had scrubbed away a little of the undercoating Also I noticed that anywhere the Tarminator was allowed to run down the undercoating, it had softened it to a fresh tar-like consistency. Lesson learned -- bad for me, good for you

I also see now that Eastwood makes a product specific for this purpose:

I had the dealer install rustproofing. (The System I think) It was like some type of grease substance. I talked to the detail end of the dealership and they told me to use a cleaner wax. For that type of rustproofing, apply a generous amount of cleaner wax to a cloth and rub. The rust proofing will come off with some elbow grease.
