Default How to safely remove badges.

I have a couple of un-wanted badges on the car... There are 2 retro style badges on each front fender. along with a "Hurst Equipped" badge on the back of the car... I would LOVE to get these off the car but I'm completely afraid of ruining the clear coat or paint underneath. I know the heat gun trick, but if there's any other "sure fire" methods I'm all ears! Thanks!

Fishing line works like a charm.

I took the residue off with a little mineral spirits. Rubbing compound would work well also.
