Question front air dam question

I know that removing the air dam will cause the car to run hot...I was thinking about cutting off 1 inch at the bottom to get a little more clearance and to clean up the look of the front end. Has anyone tried this? Did the car run any hotter?
Thanks!!!

I'm no aerodynamics engineer, but my eye says the bottom inch of that air dam is the most important in directing air into the condenser/rad.

Just buy the stainless one from http://emblempros.com/inc/sdetail/858 it's 5/8" shorter. I have had mine for 4 years now with no problems.

Sleepinghawk...did your car run any hotter when you went with the stainless one.
Call me a cheap butt...I would rather cut off 5/8 inch on the stock one than give $110 for a stainless one.
Thanks all for the replies!!!!!!!!

My Z is lowered and I scrap my air dam all the time. So if I spent $110 bucks on a stainless one and scrapped it, I would be pissed.

I'd keep stock, and if it bothers you that much then shave 5/8 off

just my $.02

No, the hawk was not changed at all. The hawk is lowered but I have no problems driving and worrying about scrapping. Yes it was a chunk of $, but as GoHardZ28 said, leave it stock or shave 5/8 off.
