MightyMouse - Awesome intake manifol. I remember seeing some posts a while back about painting them. Ive never taken one off before, can you give me some tips if I decide to try it? Are there any gaskets that I'll need to replace in order to put it back on? I assume you used a high heat paint too. Also, how difficult is it to get it off and back on again?

Thanks man.

I think its the scalloped edges that puts people off.. a simple bevel would look much cleaner and less like "wood work" -- either people loved it or hated it.. there was no middle ground.. lol

I liked it except for the edge

to paint the intake manifold, all it takes is a 10 millimeter socket

pull the fuel rail off and injectors, lay over to the passenger side, if you can keep all the injectors in the rail , you wont loose any fuel
pull the throttle body
pull off cable connections
put some paper towells over the intake ports etc so no trash will get in while you have the intake off.

for best color, (if bright color) prime it first with a light primer.

no gaskets to replace, all reuseable.

my paint is plasti-kote from pep boys 'flame red'

I love these posts, more ideas, then time to spend more money from seeing things I like.

You folks need to stop posting pics.

Two of my favorites...Still need to get rid of those darn belt stickers...

Where do you get those 'ugly' battery covers? I want one. I especially like the blacked out one that Todd2001SS has. And I know it's not, 'are they expensive?' but HOW expensive are they? What are they made out of? I have a friend who is a machinnest. He could make me one like that cheap- any tips to help him get the job done? Could he make it out of billet aluminum- would that be okay? I don't want any engine fires.

I liked mine but i do wish they would have used a simple radiused or beveled edge rather than the scalloped one..

Todds is polished.. not blacked out.. Robs is black anodized and I do believe you can get them in many different colors and finishes.. anodized ones are about $105 (polished more) and they can be had at http://www.mbaproducts.com or for less $$ at a sponsor like thunder racing

Hope this helps..

Are they Corvette ones or customs?
If they are Corvette ones, what did you do to modify them.
