Default Light noises??

I got home tonight and when i shut my lights off, I heard a loud errrrrrrrr noise when I turned them off. I have a firebird formula with obviously electric flip ups and thought it might be the motor acting up. However, this noise happens when i set my alarm too. My headlights dont flip up when i set my alarm, its just the hazard/fog lights. So, WTF is that all about? The noise sounds like a generator when turned on. The noise lasts about 5 seconds then goes away. Anyone ever have this problem? Its really too dark to see tonight, so i cant really check it out.

I'm moving this over to appearance and detailing; you'll have better luck getting a response there.

Unfortunately, it sounds as if your actuator is bad. I speak from experience, but it's not too pricey to replace at the dealership. Mine cost about $129 (or $139) plus labor ($100). Good luck, maybe you can find one from a wrecked car.

The gear in the popup unit is plastic and maybe partially stripped. Do you get this noise everytime you close the lights? I saw a web site once where a guy opened up the units and spun the gears forward half way. Since only half the gear is used, the other half was still brand new. Un fortunately I dont have the address to that site.
