Stock hood question..
Stock hood question.. I have a 94 Trans Am, stock hood (not WS6)
It has that mat underneath I guess to block the heat.. Its getting worn out and looks bad, so I thought about taking it off.
Is that ok to do or would I be taking a chance on hurting my paint from the heat??
its a steel hood by the way, not fiberglass like the LS1 cars.
Opinions are appreciated.

I have had mine off the 97 LT1 for about a year now with no problems. I was thinking the same thing about the heat because once I removed the old one I repainted the entire underside with matching rattle can paint, not the high temp. either and it looks the same as it did when I first did it. I highly recomend painting once removed! Just give it a rough sanding (scuff pad), clean the shiz out of it,and cover everything on the front of the car.

I actually took it off about 30 minutes after I posted that.. I don't think I'll have a problem.
And yeah, I didn't think about painting the underneath, if I get bored I may try that.
