FireHawk Vs Trans Am?
FireHawk Vs Trans Am? I am interested in buying a black 2001 or 2002 Trans Am WS6 Ram Air or Firehawk. What I wanted to know exactly is what are the differences between the two? I've tried looking it up, but it doesn't really give much info. Can you just name some general differences in the two, mainly performance. Thanks a lot guys!!!

Re: FireHawk Vs Trans Am? I faced the same dilema when I bought my 99 WS6 TA. The main differences are Firehawk had louder exhaust and stiffer bushings/springs. Also the hood is not as impressive as the WS6's as the raised scoops are more flattened. The air filter box opening in front of the scoops was only half as tall as the WS6's. This pretty much summed it up for me. It's what ever you like, but I found the Firehawk to be less everyday friendly and around here the WS6 TA's get more looks.
Re: FireHawk Vs Trans Am? firehawks are rated at 10 more horsepower, have diff rims, suspension, and a host of other options unavailable on a WS6. they are also more collectable. i kinda like the WS6 ram air better as well though.

Re: FireHawk Vs Trans Am? The base Firehawk package is very similar to the WS6 suspension-wise, but there are also a couple optional suspension packages (bilstein, 1LE) that were available. Also, the 2002's got a new airlid that gargered a rating of 10 horses over the WS6.
The styling is a little bit different as well. The hood is exclusive to the Hawk. Stating the Firehawk hood as "not as impressive" is a matter of opinion, though. I personally like it much better than the WS6. To me it looks like a more-agressive hood that was designed for the car, and not an afterthought. Don't get me wrong, I like the WS6's too...almost bought one...just liked the Hawks better. It also comes w/ different Hawk-specific 17" rims than the WS6 (thinner spokes) and for 2002 there is an optional spoiler that looks like the one on the IROC racecar.

Re: FireHawk Vs Trans Am? To me, the Hawk isn't worth the extra money... don't get me wrong... I love them, but around here, you could get a C5, damn near a ZO6, for what they are asking for a Hawk. Plus, the Hawk is a T/A with all of the SLP bolt-ons... you could get a T/A and buy all of the bolt ons and save alot of $ (of course I could've saved alot of $ if I would've gotten a plain T/A and bought the WS6 parts to put on it, too). Two of my favorite things about the Hawk:the Wheels (I'd love to get a set for my T/A... the WS6 wheels look too clunky) and the heat extractors on the hood.
If I had the extra $10,000, I would've probably bought an '02 Hawk instead of the '02 WS6.

Last time I checked there was only a ~$1000 difference between the WS6 and the FireHawk. Plus the Firehawk can be applied to the Formula whereas the WS6 package is only offered on the T/A from 2000 on. Therefore it is possible to get a Formula FireHawk for the same or lower price than a T/A WS6.

WS6's.. sure we work on price, $500 over invoice.. not uncommon.
