An easy portable, floor would by 12" x 12" vinyl floor tiles or carpet squares, found at most floor and home improvement stores.
Roll carpet is difficult to transport unless you have a trailer, and seems to bunch up when moving the car. At least the squares can be set up "around" the car.
A checker board of black and white tiles is very popular.

Re: Floor for car show Here's a pic with the floor laid out on grass. If the ground is hard and flat enough you can use the flooring. I think I spent a little over $100 making the floor. I've used it at 4 car shows so far and its holding up very well.

If those are seperate 2'x4' boardsm what holds all of them together? Looks like they would fly apart when people walk on it or you drive onto it if they were all seperate.

Re: Floor for car show I just lay the floor down and drive on it. You get alot of people walking on them which is fine it doesn't mess up or move the boards. Even though they are 2'x4' they are pretty heavy still. The only problem with people walking on them is the footprints. I just bring a swiffer mop with me.

Re: Floor for car show I bought the interlocking tiles and like them very much. I keep them in sections of three in my back and snap the sections together at the show.
I mainly use the tiles with mirrors to give folks a view of my supercharger from under the car.

Re: Floor for car show I made a custom floor which I use at car shows that have a parking lot/concrete surface etc..

I've won 3 1st places and 1 2nd place this year at 4 car shows. The flooring is a great idea, I get tons of compliments on it and questions asking how I made it.
Basically I went to home depot and bought a few boxes of the peel and stick black and white tiles. I then bought 2'x4' masonite boards which I stuck the tiles down on. I numbered the back of the boards for quick assembly etc. I also had a graphics shop print me up the large "CAMARO SS" letters which I stuck down along the side of the car. I also added a red bow tie to the from and back of the floor.
If you don't go any larger than 2'x4' boards then you can easily stack them all in the rear hatch of your car.
