Damn Swirl Marks and Scratches
I have a good amount of swirl marks and scratches on the hood of my car and front fenders. Most of the time you can't see them, only when under lights at night and when you get up real close. I have tried getting rid of them with level 9 3M swirl and scratch remover. I apply that and then put a good coat of wax on over it. They go away for the most part, until the next time i wash the car, then they come back. Any suggestions on how to get them away for good. Or should i just break down and take it somewhere to get it done proffesionally?
The wax fills in the scratches temporarily, but wax washes off and even melts off, it is very temporary, which is why they come back.
You have 2 choices, use an abrasive and try to remove the swirls, which will remove some of the clear coat as well and if you keep putting in new swirls and use an abrasive again and remove more clear coat, well it is never ending. The other choice is using Zaino, which doesn't wash off, doesn't melt and has ZERO abrasives. It will gradually fill in the swirls. Zaino stacks, so with each layer added the swirls get more and more filled in, also increasing the shine, durability and protection.
It is just a matter of preference.

What about wetsanding? There was a person that posted on this board that wet-sanded his car and had perfect results.

Just an idea <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Oh, and then Zaino <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I havn't had the chance to put the almighty Zaino on my cars yet, but, I plan on putting some on to put it to the test <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

the cheap way = Zaino, or Formula113
better way = professionally done
btw, i have a million of swirlmarks, and formula113 is a pretty good alternative to zaino, it made most of the swirls go away
and its considerably cheaper than zaino

F113 has mild abrasives in it and is a carnauba/silicon product. It will fill in the swirls temporarily like all waxes will. The Zaino is a synthetic polymer with no abrasives. It just depends on what you prefer.
