Default Buffer marks

Just painte the car black and it turned out great except some bad buffer marks in the hood. Anybody got any suggestions on how to get rid of these? In some places it almost looks dull

They will have to be removed by compound and/or polish with a proper buffer technique. Make sure fillers aren't being used to cover the marks.

If you wanna tackle it yourself ...meguires m105 via orange pad followed by m205 polish with a megs 2.0 yellow soft buff pad will clear >everything< up . With a porter cable or g110 da or rotary . If u take it to someone , have them do a small section to see if they if they know what their doing before spending that cash . Is it dull like an agressive compound and pad could possibly cause or do u think the paint got burned ? Who painted the car ? If it was a body shop , I cant believe they gave u the car back like that .

I use 3Ms (Perfect It) Compounds and Pads.

Step one..extra cut with a wool pad
Step two Swirl mark remover with a grey foam pad
Step three Final Swirl mark remover with a blue foam pad(GREAT for BLACK)..You have no Idea how many people with black cars bring them to me...

Dont do panel by panel..do inch by inch with some really good lights or lighting..

The bottles are numbered 1,2,3 and have the color and kind of pad you should use with them

Buffing is an Art. I think thats why everyone around here thinks Im such a good painter..its more that Im a bad *** at wet sanding/buffing..

Swirl Marks are caused by not using the correct compounds with right pads and not going through all the steps with compounds. Too Fast, too slow..ect. On a darker car, deff. blacks your going to need to use all 3 of 3Ms coumpounds and the right pads, the right pressure with the buffer and speed is another factor..look at my photo albums..they really say nothing in the pictures of a few Iv painted.. but I have buddys that Iv made over that last little bit with really nice show cars call me to come out to their house and buff their cars. Im not talkin an LS1 T/A or SS..Im talkin every inch custom built by high name builders $75,000 plus..Its nerve racking when I first get there and they are over your shoulder but after 5 mins they go grab a beer and they forget lol.

On an avrage I "black" and "blue" pad my car once a month if Iv drove it every much..but thats why my car looks better than the next guys at a show..

Its expensive but go buy a buffer.. Makita, Dewalt anthing really..

Then get the 3M buffing kit with all the pads and compounds..best investment Iv done...if you take pride in your car

but I use it almost everyday when painting..

Wanna make this simple? Here-

-Go buy a Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher

-After that go get Meguairs M105+M205 polishing compounds.

-Third, get (1) Orange Pad and (1) White Pad.

This is as simple as it gets and the results will be great. I have two machines, the porter cable I mentioned above and a Makita Rotary(not recommended for someone new)
**Your now a black car owner, your going to need polishes/buffers anyways**

If you're interested in this setup, PM me and I will give you more info. Cheers.

The Porter Cable buffer set up is perfect for all users. You can't burn the paint or clear coat as compared to high speed rotary polishers.

We have sold hundreds of PC kits since 2003. It will always be a staple for us.

Now combine the Megs 105/205 combo, the new PC 7424 XP and throw in a little patience and determination, you be on your way to restoring and maintaining your paint finish like you have never seen.

ok, a professional detailer saw it today and said that it wasn't buffed enough. It still had the sand scratches from the repaint and needs to be compound and then polished. Man I wish I was good at that. Said he would charge me around 150 for just the hood and the front bumper after he sanded out some minor imperfections. Anybody know a good detailer in the North GA area?
