Default Interior idea

Let me know what you guys think about this: I have the dark grey accented cloth on my 2000 Z28 (not a fan of leather). And since my car is pewter I was thinking about painting the radio, speedo, and air vent bezels in lt pewter (same color as my car). Do you think it would look good?

I'm tring to make a show car and from the pic I saw with the pewter painted it looked really nice and not ricey. I keep my car extremely clean and if you intrested my apperance mods planned (some already done):

-Billet grille
-OEM Z06 rims
-Lower 1 1/2 inches
-20% tint all around
-Ultra Z hood
-Clear corners
-Possibly SS spoiler
-Possibly black racing seats
-Caliper's are already medium blue, possibly carry that color with blue accents in engine bay.

There was a post a while back of a SOM Camaro, and the owner painted the interior SOM, it actually looked very nice. It was sublte and clean, not IN YOUR FACE like red is.

I am trying to picture it, I think it would look good, but don't paint the actual vents leave those ebony, just paint the surrounds.

Yep I was gonna paint the same way except I might paint the lower part of the middle console not the top (or not at all). I did want to paint the 4 speaker grilles but can't get then ones out of the door?

And yes I was gonna leave the actual air vents ebony, just paint the surround. Also that "sublte and clean" look is what I'm tring to accomplish with the pewter.

Yep thats my Interior above =)

There is a trick to getting the speaker grills off. I removed the door skins to get to the back of the speaker grills. The grills have 4 little snaps on the back, whats messed up is 2 of the snaps are normal and 2 are melted the door skin. They must melt 2 of the plastic snap to the plastic on the door skin at the factory. Be very careful the plastic is thin and you can ruin the speaker grill. I just used a small blade to cut the melted 2 snaps and made a clean cut. After I painted the grills I just snapped them in to the door skins and they are tight with just 2 snaps. If you want to you can use a glue gun to seal the other 2 snaps, I didn't think it needed it.

Anyway good luck with the interior job your planning! post pics!

I have mine painted pewter but havent done all the pieces yet. There's pics here http://www.geocities.com/pewter2kformula/int8.jpg

I painted my door panel too(just the bottom part where the speakers are) but couldnt figure out how to EASILY take the part out I wanted to paint and like you said..the darn speakers don't appear to come out easily either . I ended up taping everything off and painting it with it still on but it was a pain in the a$$!! The stupid tape wouldnt stick even though I rubbed the panel down with alcohol and soap!! I only got one panel done....driver's side and have to do the other...am not looking foward to all the hassle the other one was.

PLease let me know how you make out doing your pieces and how you get that center console thing out...and if you do your door panel piece. And post some pics!

Thanks
Michelle

Pewter 2kFormula - Well from the pic you gave me it looks pretty good . I'm gonna be painting them later today, I'm not totally sure if I should paint the middle console or not (and then if I do should I paint the upper part, like most people, or lower part). I'll try to have pics up tonight when its done.
