Default Moving Headlights

I was thinking about it with a couple friends, and was wondering whats some others opinions about moving the headlights to say, where the DRLs are located? Like putting projectors in the DRL housing? Only things I A. Wouldn't wanna screw up the great stock look B. Don't know if the lights would be high enough to be legal and be as efficient as the stocks and C. Haven't ever heard of it before this and would also need to do something with the DRLs. It could drop some dead weight from the pop up headlights, but anyone think its a good idea? I'm on the fence

it seems like someone else came up with a similar sounding idea here in this section within like the next 2-3 weeks. check the first 4-5 pages of the forum to see if you find it.

good intentions cause the pop up headlights are ugly as hell, plus they slow you down if your racing and it's dark out... but i think your right, i dont think they will be high enough to be good enough to see or high enough to be legal... let us know how it works out though!

Pretty sure they'd be too low to be legal. They'd probably put out enough light as I can probably drive with just my Fog lights on and can see fine, but it's not legal.

You could do it, and drive around til a cop gives you a hard time. Leave the stock headlights intact and wired up for inspection. I would just go HIDs for your fogs if your just looking for brighter fogs though. I'm going that direction. Ill only put my headlights up when its pitch black out.

Thanks for all the input guys. Gave me some motivation to try it out. I'm probably gonna pursue this idea, and if it doesn't work i'll just retrofit the projectors into the pop up housing. I have a feeling it's not going to be, but I can always keep the stock components and change it back. Like you guys said, i'll have to check the legality of it, as I live in VA and it seems anything not stock is illegal. I searched on it and couldn't find any laws stating its illegal, but i'll probably go and ask an inspector before I go starting it. No one else has non pop up's from what I know except for Breathless Performance, and I think they're non pop up's are ***

This is proabably what i'm going to do. I'd like to delete the pop up's completly if it's bright enough/high enough/legal enough and cops don't bug me, but we'll see. It's gonna take alot of fabrication to get it right. I'm thinkin of HID's for my fogs, but I have aftermarket pilots so i'll have to see if H3 HID bulbs will fit

but wht you are trying to do kinda fits with this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...eadlights.html
-and the same comments seem to arise with both your idea, and this persons, which is that they are a little low, and you MAY have problems with the police. i highly doubt that though, unless you are doing something else that getting you a lot of attention. if you think about it, sports car are all lower than our cars, so their headlights are naturally lower. i don't think youd have any problems with cops.

Nice, thanks man. That def helps. I'm getting HID's for my fogs ASAP, but i'm thinking i'm still gonna make a housing to hold projectors for added light so I def won't need to use pop up's. I talked to an inspector today and he said by the book, anything not in the stock headlight placement and not DOT approved will fail, but some inspectors don't care(I have one). So i'm gonna make the housing, and if its bright enough(most likely will be) delete the pop up's but keep components to manually raise it and have the lights so it'll pass if it's needed. I doubt cops would bug me as well as long as the road is lit enough. And I had the same thought about the sports cars, I completly agree with you there. Even though i'm not trying it for a few months, i'll have to figure out where to move the DRL's. I'm leaning towards something in the lower vent
