Polishing engine bay....help?

Polishing engine bay....help? I want to polish everything in my engine bay for the car show I'm entered in on the 17, but the stuff I'm using says "Not to use on aluminum". Well are all the parts on the LS1 engine aluminum or just the block?
I did a little test on the AC thing and as I was rubbing it turned black, but then when I rubbed off it had a chrome shine... so is it safe to use or not? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: Polishing engine bay....help? I assume by polish you mean to make dull metal shiny.. as in "polished wheels".. if this is the case then the ONLY things you can polish are aluminum stuff.. steel dosent polish very good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Aluminum stuff you can polish:
AC Condenser and hose crimps
Throttle body
Power steering cooler
For this you need a LOT of elbow grease and a good ALUMINUM polish..

Re: Polishing engine bay....help? Just about all of the engine is aluminum and the brackets too and the A/C pieces also but if you want to check if it's aluminum or not use a magnet it won't stick to aluminum.

Re: Polishing engine bay....help? hmm guess I'm fairly limited <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> . But it said not to use on aluminum parts, yet when I did the AC Condenser it made it very very shinney.

Re: Polishing engine bay....help? You can also shine up your ABS block(aluminium),brake lines(stainless steel),as well as the pipe for the radiator hose. For the stainless, take off the gray paint with Scotch-Brite and then use either Never-Dull or Luster Lace. Take your time and buff everything with a good soft cloth and you'll really be pleased with the effort. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
