Default Monte Carlo/Camaro interior

So anybody swapped anything out of the Monte Carlo interior into the Camaro? The interior's look exactly the same, and I'm wondering if the newer 04 MC center console would swap out. Looks a little better engineered, and the drink holder is lower than the armrest. Might even be able to swap in the whole dash, looks kinda similar, any experts on the topic?

This shot is from a 96 Z34.

And a 2004 SC SS Monte, the console's are pretty much the same design.

And the last gen MC console, this is the one I'd like to swap in.

Just sharing a thought, maybe I should have kept it to myself.

Doubt it'll ever line up exactly with the camaro engineering. The styling looks the same but on a different scale.

Just curious since the Camaro center console was taken out of the 96 Monte to begin with, how far off could they be. I love random thought days.

I bet you could make it work. Someone put a full interior from a 93 Camaro in a 73 Camaro, they aren't the same at all. But then again, they swapped damn near everything.

I don't think it will work. My monte has a rather large dash, its pretty long. With the sitting angle in a f-body, I think the dash would hang too low.

Not wanting to swap out the whole thing, just upgrade the center console, the newer Monte's looks much cleaner. Like I said it was a random thought, and I think I'm over it now.

I definitely don't think it'll work. Not sure why you'd want a Monte Carlo interior. I could understand the seats but bot the rest. Remember the cars are on a completely different platform. Now swapping an LS1 engine along with an LS1 drivetrain to make a Monte Carlo RWD now that would be cool.

I understand that, I just want an updated console. I don't want the whole interior, if you actually look at the pics, the 96 has the camaro console, plus some, so I'm guessing the console from the newer models should fab right up to the camaro, at least with some minor chopping. Again only speculation, and I was asking if anyone had done anything similar to this.

Yeah that is why I think it might possibly work. Since the 98+ Camaro interior console = 96 Monte Carlo interior console.

I heavily doubt that the ergonomics will be very good even if it does fit. It'll likely be too low or too high for your elbow. That isn't to say this isn't worth investigating... do you plan on visiting a junkyard or getting one of these consoles off ebay and trying it out? It'd be interesting if nothing else.

Just something I noticed in my friend's MC and was curious if someone else had thought this up first. Maybe I'll toss the idea to 6le and see what he can come up with

A 96 Monte Carlo console has nothing in common with Camaro or Firebird. I'm a former 4th & 5th gen Monte guy so I know the cars pretty well in and out my family has owned two 5th Monte's. I know one person said how much the Monte interior looks like the Camaro but there really is no similarities at all in person between the two. The seats from a Monte Carlo are built for a sedan chassis so they wouldn't sit low enough in an FBody, the console is built for FWD and with that there is next to no driveshaft hump at all in a Monte Carlo so toss in that with the console height difference and how thin the console is compared to an FBody console, it will not work.

I say get yourself a console from a junkyard, maybe the brackets it mounts to and see if you can get it to fit in your Camaro. If anyone bothered to read, he ONLY wants the console! Not the whole interior. The newer one looks like it might be taller than the Camaro console so it could be too tall or may be better for you to rest your elbow on. Let us know if you try this!
