Quick engine bay detail and wash for Princess!
After looking through all of my build pics, I realized how freakin' dirty the engine bay is and how much I hated all of the stickers the previous owner had. So last night I decided to detail it, and give the car a quick detail before I took a little lady out to dinner. So here are some quick before/afters!
Before!
After!
I do realize there is plenty left to do, but I did that in about 45 mins. I'm planning on polishing a few things here and there and cleaning up the nasty intake manifold bolts. And I want to do the wire mod some time. The headers look terrible but I dont really want to spend money on new ones because I'll be going turbo this winter.
Wash!
Buffing/polishing/waxing it tonight if I get the motivation! More pics soon to come. We haven't had any nice sunny days to get good outdoors pics yet. I know it needs lowered, I have adjustable QA1s in the front that I just put on and will be adjusting this weekend, and I'll be doing the heater hose mod in the rear. I need to keep some room to fit my other set of wheels (Race Star Industries bigs/littles with 325/50/15 mickeys)
It's a 408ci/A3/12 bolt car.. shooting for 10s in spring!

Thanks fellas. That brings me to the next question, what to do about a grille and berger? I'm planning on going black with the ZR1s. The grille looks like **** because it's faded plastic, so I was going to have it sanded/painted because I can get it done DIRT cheap from a guy I work with. So should I go berger as well? Or should I just get a black billet grille and throw some retro SS emblems on it?
Lookie what I found at Walmart..
The princess name is an inside joke between my buddies and I.. and it fits perfectly. High maintenance bitch that spends all of my fking money.

I was planning on fitting the bigs/littles today because they're brand new and never been on the car, but it was raining/sleeting and there isn't a whole lot of room in my garage to do it. And I didn't want to drive the car to work (in pics) in the bad weather.
I'm kind of a cheater when it comes to engine bays. I used adhesive remover to get all of the stickers off, then i sprayed the entire engine bay with a diluted degreaser out of a spray bottle, pressure washed the entire engine bay, dried completely with an air compressor, then used a aerosol detailing spray on all of the plastics/rubber under the hood. Spray on, wipe off with a paper towel, leaves a great shine and isn't greasy... and doesn't collect dirt.
I work at a small used car dealership and do 100% of the work to take rough trade ins from turds to perfect (other than paint.) I went to a tech school for 2 years in automotive to get the mechanical side down and absolutely couldn't find a job as a tech here, and when I found this I must say I REALLY enjoy what I do. But as with everything else, I'm sick of being the middle man. I'm going to be quitting pretty soon and working "full time" for my dad, and buying/flipping/selling cars on the side. It sucks seeing a 10k auction car come in, me and only me putting about 2 days of work in to it, and it selling for 15k+ the next week.. because I know I'm not the one who made the 5k.

Thanks fellas. This car was pretty rough when I bought it (Josey, Matt, and Drew can attest to that.) The previous owner absolutely FAILED at putting new carpet in the interior and just keeping the car clean in general. But it had a ton of $$ in good parts and the deal was just too good to pass up. New carpet and plenty of detail time and she's lookin' alright
And I must say red is my favorite F-body color as well. I've had a red lt1 z28, green lt1 SS, black lt1 z28, and maroon ls1 z28. Red just stands out. Second favorite color is NBM! I want to own an NBM sleek beak TA on black wheels before I die.
