You are a lucky guy, wish I had a wife/gf like that. My GF has a masters degree and she does not understand the love I have for my car.....I am always explaining stuff to her. Today I explained why a car had an Alternator and how it worked....Of course I had to also answer the question. "Why does a car have a battery then?"

Well we got back into the shop and made the axle tubes and add some strength to the watts link:
Started from:
Now I will need to saw cut them in half and weld some ears on the split lines for bolting it around the axle tube

Back in the shop again, trying to finish this stuff up so I can work on the car a little. I'm going to paint the underside of the car same as the top......
The Watts Links "Frames" are now complete:
Soooo we started working on the door panels and I'll show you what we did!!
Took the door panels apart:
Used the old material for a template:
This is the backing I'm goin gto use,it is very dense :
I wanted to have a flame design in the door panel to match the outside:
Maybe tomorrow we will put the new BLue material of the backing

Very cool, I love how you are documenting everything. It's nice for people to understand, so they can appreciate, the process it takes to manufacture the parts they put on their cars. Must be nice to have all those fun toys to play with, I'm jealous.
Got the paint done Friday, turned out pretty good, painted the heat shields and polished the drive shaft also:
Heat shields painted with 500deg paint and cleared:
Covered the car so there was no over spray:
Shiney side up.......this might get me in trouble:

WOW...thanks guys...it has been a long time and yes we still have the car and we are still playing and showing it. We went to the Pontiac Nats and won Best Firebird/Trans Am. We meet up with Robbie and his wife and had a great weekend. Robbies car is more amazing in person
We also had great luck at the Trans Am Nat in Dayton Ohio, we won best of show there, out of almost 500 cars from 30 +states.....wow what a honorer that was. Here is a pic with the class trophy and Best of Show trophy
