Regular Modeling clay as a Clay Bar?

Can you use regular modeling clay as a clay bar?

No regular clay has added color and other things and it will flake and leave a residue. Just get a normal play bar from wal-mart or any parts store it not too expensive

As said above, just get the real thing. Doesn't cost that much. If you get the Meguiars clay kit you get 2 bars, detail spray, and a microfiber cloth. You can get a lot of use from those 2 bars unless your paint is really bad.

I usually run out of the detail spray before I use up both bars. But I think I overuse the spray.

I use the Meguiar's kit and I dont even use the spray. Just soapy water works great for me... noticed no difference between soapy water or when using the detail spray. Plus it goes faster.

a claybar has a small amount of abrasive in them. modeling clay does not.
