how to remove water pump pulley?

how to remove water pump pulley? I want to remove the pressed on pulley from my water pump and have it chromed.
Is there a special technique in removing the pulley or does it just press off? Has anyone had experience with chroming the pulley and found that the belt slips?

You need a special tool for this. Look at the pulley and you will see that their is a lip in the center. The tool grabs this lip and then pulls the pulley off.
I rented the tool from Autozone. However, the lip on mine tore off. I then had to use a cutoff wheel to get it off. The pulley is ceramic - I would think it won't chrome too well.

Can anyone else through any light on chroming this pulley?
You can not pull that pulley off.. its pressed on and require big equipment to get it off (I think BB was thinking of the PS pulley)..
Best bet is to find a 98 waterpump with the bolted on pulley and have the pump polished and the pulley chromed.. look on my website to see what it looked like on my 2000 car

mines a 98 so all i needed to do was un bolt mine yours might not be able to be chromed but mines apart and getting ready to go to the chromer.Theres a picture of the pump with the pulley removed on my site http://community.webshots.com/user/n2o_z28 Its listed under winter project.Hope this helps
