Default Fixed Antenna on 98TA

Hey guys, I was going to post this in the electronics section but decided since it was an external mod that I would post it here. I am tired of replacing motorized antennas, has anybody changed theirs to say a fixed vette antenna or have an company who sells fixed antennas for Fbody's?

I plan on shaving my antenna and just mounting a permanent non-electric one under the dashpad out of site.

As far as I'm concerned the less GM electric motors we have in our car the better... I don't know what it is about them, but they all suck...

I have fixed...

Headlight motors
Window motors
Windshield Wiper motors
Antenna Motors

on my car and some of them 2 or 3 times... they all really suck *****. Good job GM

My motor broke. I disconnected the power from the antenna, pushed it down by hand and called it a day.

My reception is fine even with it down.

i pulled mine out pretty much as soon as i got the car. i used a 98+ camaro antenna base and swapped that in. and then bought a shorty antenna from ebay seller: Motorwerks- great price/product.

my power antenna was stuck in the up position, and i was unable to even push it down by force. yet i still had to listen to the motor trying to push it up every time i started the car up, and then try to pull it down when i turned off the car. i had to get rid of that piece of crap.

Just pull out all the parts for your electric antenna, buy a standard non-electric antenna post from a Camaro at a junkyard. Install it & screw whatever antenna you want on it. Its very simple. I use the BitViper antenna & love it.
