Default Wheel Spacer Question?

I orderd a set of 25mm H&R spacers so I can set the rear wheels out a little farther in the wheel well on my TA. Should I remove them when I go to the track? Are they strong enough to take the abuse without braking? The spacers are the bolt on type that have studs pressed in. I dont plan on running any drag radials or anything and my A4 still has the stock converter right now. My 60fts are only 2.0 with my setup the way it is.

I wouldn't worry about them. It's the slip-on spacers that you have to be careful of. I have a few buddies who use the H&R wheel spacers that you describe (DRM style) and they run 100s and 100s of miles at tracks like Watkins Glen/Mosport Park etc as well as cutting 1.7 60's on slicks, without any issue. The slip-on ones are the ones that stress your wheel studs excessively and can lead to breakage.

DOPE...Did you buy those 15mm spacers yet? If so, did you get them from Options Auto Salon?

Just wondering because I just put on some 295/35/18s and it's kinda tight around the bump stop when raising and lowering the car AND I don't want to hit a big bump and slice up my tires.

This is even after banging in the rest of the wheel well. I think the 25mm is too much for my taste. That's over an inch further out.

Hmmm, after lookng at the 15mm DRS type, they appear to be just spacers without the built in studs. You just replace your stock studs with longer studs like ARPs.

The DRM style looked to only come in the 25mm size.

Of course I DO have 1/4" spacers that would come off if I got the 25mm so that would only be 3/4"s more.

Ruquick can you or DOPE, get some pics of those cars with the spacers, tire sizes, and how much they stick out?

Oh yeah, Ruquick, where did you get yours from? Price per pair or each?

I sent you a PM with info on where I orderd them. My rims are 65mm 18x9.5 C5s. I have 285/35s front and rear. The front looks great but the rear are tucked in a little to far for my taste.

I had bookmarked that site a while back but didn't know if anybody had ordered from them. I've got Y2K 18x9.5s as well but I swear I think by backspacing is 56mm. 295/35/18's on the back.

If yours is 65mm, I believe that means yours tucks in more.

I never bought the 15mm H&Rs because as you noted, they are the slip-on style.

I did a massive search and never found anyone that sold the DRM-style (with the studs in the wheel spacer) under 1 inch. I did however, find Skulte performance, who was willing to custom make 3/4" spacers for me (he said that was as small as he could go). I think they were $150 and included lug nuts. I'd check em out. 3/4" is 18.75mm. You mentioned already having 1/4" spacers too so that's only another 1/2". Pretty close.

Good luck guys.

Here are some pictures with the spacers on the car. The pictures are dark because its 3:30 in the morning right now. They worked out great! There is no vibration or anything like that at top speed. They balance them pretty good.

A few questions:
What size wheels and tires have you got on there?

Are the lug bolts that come with them the stock lugs or ARP bolts?

Everything just bolted right up?

My rims are 18x9.5 and the tires are 285/35s front and rear. I didnt look to see if the studs they use are ARP. The rims had pockets large enough to clear the 1/4" or so of the stud that stuck out past the spacers. They bolted right up with no mods at all.

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Mine are the 18x9.5 also with 295/35 on the rears and a Prokit. I know if I put it off much longer my tires are gonna contact something. At $350 a piece , I can't afford NOT to spend $120 on spacers.

I DID notice the height of your car though and I swear I must have got a mislabeled Sportline kit. Mine looks to sit as low as yours.

Just for reference, the stock studs should've been blue(GM?) and ARP's would've been a goldish color.
