Powder Coated Brakes................

Powder Coated Brakes................
Well here are some pics of the our Powder Coated Brakes. The calipers are from a F-body and are first sanded down so the powder finish is extremely smooth. The great thing about powder coat is that chemicals do not destroy it. Pad dust, wheel cleaner, brake fluid even brake clean will not take it off. The rotors are stock GM rotors and they have a 1200 degree powder on them that keeps them from rusting.

Re: Powder Coated Brakes................
question, i have been thinking of doing this to my brakes, (i have access to a powedercoating setup)
But i was wondering, can you bake the calipers the way they came off the car, or is it better to disassemble them, take the piston out and such, before baking?
edit, nm, just looked at your site.. (nice site by the way ) and im guessing they need to be rebuilt after baking.
thanks
Ryan.

I had mine powder coated red just like the pictures above and had to rebuild mine. I bought a extra set of calipers so that I wouldn't really have any down time with my car

Yes BTW you do have to take them fully apart. There are rubber seals in the brakes that I would rather not harm.

Re: Powder Coated Brakes................
Well guys, I don't have any cores. If you have your car down to do other mods that's a good time to do this. I'm looking into cores now.
Believe me chicks never understand mod money. Even when you are on my end of it.
Thanks for the compliments.

Re: Powder Coated Brakes................
thanks.
I was thinking the rubber seals woudl be bad to bake.
I think im going to be looking for a set of rear cores soon, and then eventually getting the vette fronts as well.
Ryan. <-- daily driver, and powdercoating, dont go together well

But if you can afford to have your car down, (not usable) powder coating is almost the best thing you cound do.

Re: Powder Coated Brakes................
What all needs to be removed from the inside of the calipers? I am going to purchase a Hot Coat system from eastwood here soon and I want to powder coat mine too.
