If you wanted sand them back down and tape it off like you did and lightly sandblast the flame sections then paint them the same shade you did. I will give it that smoked look but will still light up good. I did this with a window in my XBOX 360.

+1 for the thought -1 for quality- i would have saved the money and had that dent fixed on the driver side first
