Default Whats the difference between wax and polish?

Ive been using Meguires Gold Class wax, and the other day i noticed that Zaino and some other products that you can get at the store are a polish, my question is what is the difference between a wax and a polish? Is one better than the other?

IMO since i use Zaino it might be bias but ill try not to be , polish looks better and gives your car a protectant and can last a while, but i think waxs protectant lasts longer although doesnt give that zaino "wet" look for a while. plus , correct me if im wrong, polish's can be applied numorous times w/o damaging the clearcoat or paint, unlike wax. im just stating what ive heard and been told

Most people think of polish as being a mild abrasive. Zaino does NOT contain any abrasives, you could think of it as a synthetic wax or polymer instead polish. Most wax products contain "cleaners" which are actually a mild abrasive, always removing the previous coat, if it didn't wash off anyway. Zaino layers and doesn't wash off.

I've also heard that wax has a melting point and the polishes do not. So in the south or in hot areas it's better to use a polish but a wax every now and then. That's what I've heard.

Dark colored cars on hot days, the surface can get up to 200 degrees. Wax starts melting at around 120-140 degrees, even white cars can get hotter than that.

Zaino is UNaffected by the hot surface.

Isn't polish strictly for appearance? I know in the 3 step Meguiars package you use the polish then the carnuba wax for protection.
