My triple gauge pillar recently came in and I will be installing it before too long. Trouble is, I took it out and compared it to the color of the interior and it's more black than charcoal After some e-mails, it's looking as though I'm either going to have to leave it black or paint it charcoal. Has anyone painted theirs charcoal to match their interior and if so, where can you find this plastic paint? The dealer had nothing of the sort, just touch-up paint in body colors. I guess the black works fine if you have an ebony interior, but for those of us with taupe/charcoal, this could turn out to be more of a chore Any ideas? Thanks.

Just painted mine yesterday. I have the dark grey interior, probably a little lighter than yours. Although we couldn't find an exact color match, we used anodized bronze, which sounds wrong, but it's just a tint browner. Much closer than black anyway Don't really notice the difference unless you look for it. Good ole rustoleum to the rescue.

This charcoal color would qualify as dark grey. The leather and carpets are all taupe, but the dash and A-pillars, etc. are dark grey.
Anodized bronze does sound a little strange, but I will check it out. Rustoleum in the spray can, right? Anything you had to do to the pillar before painting it? Thanks for the help, AH.

Most people I have talked to say you have to sand it down a little to take the slipery, oily surface off so the paint can stick.

You could sand it a tad if you wanted too. I imagine a cloth and some rubbing alcohol would take the finger spots and oils off easier. Not sure how storng that would be on plastic though. FWIW, we didn't clean mine at all, just layed it down and sprayed. Gotta figure out where I want to put the mounting holes now. Really ticked me off that autometer couldn't put that little 6inch leg on the bottom and make it a complete replacement and not a cover!

Im running into the exact same problem as you Barchetta. I ordered a full replacement A-pillar w/ dual pods for my tranny and water temp guages. Well basically I ordered the SEM 15303 and its way to grey, its almost as if our interiors (01 Z28) are black.
Anyways I'm not doing this hit or miss crap so I contacted a company that does custom color dye matching off one of my interior pieces and sends me a can (spray) that matches my interior 100%.
Its not cheap though, cost is around 38.00 for 12 ounces.
I'll post back here when I get all the details, I emailed them tonight so I hope to hear from them tomorrow.

I heard back from Upholstery World tonight and here is the information for those who are looking for a custom match. The cost is $18.00 for a 12oz spray (this contradicts the web site), $54 for a pint and $82 for a quart for those who wish to air brush it on. Turnaround time is 5-7 days.

I think I can toss 18 bux at it. I'll be waiting to hear about this. I guess you're just gonna ship them some part that's the same color? I was thinking the fuse cover would be a good piece to use for this.

Good news MODMYZ No doubt...I'll cough up the $18 to get it right. For easily removeable pieces, I think you're right AH - the fuse panel it will be. That's as charcoal/dark gray as it can get. I was pretty to find out it was a cover rather than a replacement as well. That extra six inches of plastic on the bottom to make it a complete replacement would probably double the price My piece will be going out within a few days.

If you guys want to improve on the texture and EXACTLY match the stock interior:
Take your stock pillar to home depot. Have them paint match a can of paint to your pillar. ROLL the paint onto your pillar with a roller. Results:

I don't think there is a 'complete' replacement. All the ones I've seen are covers that cover 90% of the stock one.

Sorry for the delay in posting back, I got a late call from them on Friday but I had already left work. I just got off the phone and here are the details.
There are 2 options to choose from :
1. Porsche Black #917
2. Ebony (for the Camaro 01-02)
She told me that her manager tested the #917 on the sample (back t-top piece) and it was an exact match so I'm having them ship me 2 cans. If you want to contact her just call 800-222-9577 and ask for Jamie.
I'll post back once I get the dye and actually test it out.
