Default quick question regarding LED dash conversion

i plan on putting LEDs into my dash soon. i was reading the write up and it said to use LEDs from superbrightleds (WLED-xHP6 Wedge Base Bulb) that were 5$ a piece. is it possible to use 5mm or 3mm LEDs instead if i have resistors? if so how much more difficult would it be. i ask this becuase i can get 100 LEDs for 6$ with resistors off the internet vs paying the same price for each LED from superbrightleds. any help would be appreciated. thanks

would take longer then a bulb swap but I'm sure you could. Just have to figure out how to rig the LED's into the bulb holders since you won't have the wedge part that the pre-made setup has

yes you can do it that way, its just a pain. ive taken 194 plastic wedge bases and put a 5mm led and a resistor in it and plugged it in a 194 socket. there was a place that sold the plastic wedge base by itself but i cant remember who. the ones you buy from superbrights are the same exact thing with very small resistors wired inside.
you can find 194 leds cheaper on ebay.

I think you will be disappointed with the results if you do it that way. smds will yield better results and will be MUCH easier
