Satin and Semi Gloss are VERY different paints!!!!
Flat black is a course flat paint, satin is a smooth shiny, but not reflective, flat paint.
Semi Gloss is shiny, Gloss is supposed to look Wet. Mine is Satin, its like a shiny flat paint.
BTW i mix paint all day at work, so i have stared for cumulative hours at the different sheen of paint. Flat will look like plastic, satin will look like buffed plastic.

i think the original CETA was painted Yellow, but the "CETA" mod wasn't actually painted, it was exposed plastic, left unfinished from the factory. thats how the Grand Prix's are and basically any car with a rear bumper section from GM. Trailblazer SS, G8, All the trucks, etc etc. Think about it, from GM's standpoint. Your goal is to have a black section. To achieve this you have 2 options, paint it black, or leave it unfinished since the bare material is already black. If you leave them unpainted, you wull save probably a couple million dollars over 100's of thousands of cars over the span of several models life cycle. Id do the same thing. Now whats crappy is since the cars are manufactured in different parts of the country, they only leave the bumper exposed and they paint the side mirrors. This could be because its a different assembly line, or maybe the mirrors aren't black plastic, i'm not sure. But it would have been more cohesive to match at least the mirrors and bumper, if not also the b pillar cover.

I know for a fact that ASC did not do the bumper, it was black when it arrived from GM

Im sorry but this is confusing me, are you getting that somewhere i stated the bumper was a different color outside vs inside? Im not seeing where you picked up on that or how you came to this. I said the mirrors are different colors.

a CETA owner said that it wasn't painted in another thread a while back.
this. If you think about it, they would have to manually tape off every single bumper to do a two-toned paint job, and i really dont see that being the case. I cant really think of any factory 2-tone jobs. Even stripes from the factory are almost always vinyl. its not cost effective at all to paint every car with these various designs.

I've seen multiple CETA's in person and have made it a point to check out the rear bumper and it's unpainted. I cant believe this is still in question.
I havent done mine yet but I'm gonna go with Semi-gloss.
