Default Polishing Tailights?

Dumb question, but has anyone polished there tailights? I painted mine with the VHT Night shaders tint, and want them back to stock, and was considering sanding the part number stampings off of them, i was gonna go with like 1500, then 2000, then some meguiar's plastic polish, and then do the headlights as well, as the have small scratches on them from installing/removing the blackouts. Any help would be appreciated, lemme know if ya did it, and how it turned out.

Any specific reason you want to get the Nite Shades off? Does it make the light too hard to see or something? I ordered some and was going to do mine this weekend unless you say any reasons to think twice about it????

No problems with the light shining through, just going for a different look now, I've had everything Blacked out now for 2 years, and now i'm switching to clear turn signals, rear markers, no blackouts, and get rid of headlight blackouts. For the tailights, i'm gonna go back to stock and sand off the casting numbers, then leave them stock or have them airbrushed. I'm trying to get ahold of a set of Japanese tailights, i got a buddy who works for GM and should be able to get them cheap.

I have. I actually sanded off all of the casting marks and lettering on my Camaro side marker and tail lights. Started a little aggressive with my B&D Mouse sander and 120 grit sandpaper, then to 240, Wetsanded with 400, 600 & 1200. Then with my hight speed buffer, used Meguires 2, 3, and 9. Repeat wetsanding and buffing till scrathces are gone. Then topped them off with Zaino plastic polish! Like glass! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Kewl, thanks for the help, i'm hoping by just sticking with the 1500/2000 maybe even 600, i should avoid most of the big scratch issues, but i wanted to make sure that somebody else had done it and liked the results, before i tore into them

Thanks again
Jason

well, i actually don't think they will be hard to get, as long as you know the right people, i actually already have a guy that can get me a set, but they'll cost me 500/550, after shipping and stuff, i don't want to spend that much on a set of tailights, so i got my local guy looking. So if you or anyone you know, wants these tails that bad that they'll pay that much, lemme know, and i can get them, and just tell my guy they are for me, and send them to you. Email me and let me know, cause i'm not payin that much, i'd rather not have them at all.
