If I were you guys I would start checking your grounds on the stock wiring harness and work your way out...

Hey Gorila, sorry to hear about the problem. Good news is, I KNOW I've seen this on here before, and someone figured it out.. Try searching? I'll look around and see if I can find it.

Damn '98s.. (mine is actually a 99 lol..)

What kind of noise are you hearing? Is it a high pitched whine? The ballasts do that when you turn them on.

hey thanks man. yes it is a pitched whine but my ballasts are down by my fogs and thats not where the sound is coming from. it sounds like its right by the windshield. I haven't tried them since i started this thread, and i care to much to fry something in the process of trying to find it. So if you find out whats causing it i'd be really thankful!

Sorry I'm not too much help with what exactly is causing it, but I do know the sound you're hearing. It's the wiper motors. Mine did the same thing, but I rarely drive the car in the rain so I just pulled the fuse for the wipers and problem solved.

Hopefully it has to do with the "plug and play" style connection, I'm pretty sure this has come up before and separate wiring harness should fix the issue.

Mine's a 02, same issue, after the low beam 35 watters warm up, the wiper motor starts buzzing / humming and only goes away if i turn off the lights, pull the wiper fuse OR turn on the wipers...

I'll try the relay kit..but from what I saw on the DDM site, they want $40 for the wiring harness! OWCH!

Ok...I must have been on the wrong site, I punched that code 370-HID-8133-5486523658 into google and found DDMtuning instead of DDMHID, which I found first...ya, much better deal...ordering now!

I put in the relay harness into my car and the headlights don't even work, so now I've got to try and figure out why. It's a simple plug and play, but she's not working so I don't know if it fixed my buzzing wiper motor issues yet!

K...I'm just a dumbass. I plugged it in wrong. You have to plug the relay harness right into the ballast, (not the plugs that go into the ballast and factory headlight plugs) as the relay harness doesn't take the power from the factory wiring harness plugs but rather just a signal so-to-speak to trip the relay to pull the power from the battery. Now I've got it and understand.

So if anyone else is having that issue with the whining / buzzing / or issues related to the wiper motor once HID 's are installed...I did, and this relay harness fixed the issue for me too. HID's work, and no noise or interference that I can detect with the wiper motor or otherwise.

Solved.

This solution is correct. A relay will solve the problem.
