Default Fikse FM5

My question is what color are they. I know they are forged aluminum, but what kind of finish do they have. Since i can't afford these rims I was thinking about getting the rims i do get, to shine like some Fikse's.

The standard finish on FM5 are polished. You have to get forged(expensive)aluminum wheels to get that look.If you get cast wheels they are porous(tiny little microscopic holes in the metal)and when you polish them they will look kind of dull in comparison. The closest thing that is relatively cheap are Boyd wheels ( ~$1200 at www.boydcoddington.com). These are billet wheels and are not quite as strong nor as light as forged wheels but they shine up good. However, these wheels are not hub-centric.They do not fit "like a glove" around the hub, they are lug-centric. The wheels tend to vibrate and get a little noisy at high speed(more so the wider you go, like 17x11). If you get hub-centric billet wheels like www.budknik.com wheels they are about ~$1800 set. Half the cost of the FM5's though.
If you like FM10 style wheels, there is www.ccwheel.com . You can get a set of forged and polished mesh wheels for $1800.They are light and strong road race wheels and do not come with oversized centers(like Fikse and HRE).CCW's motto is perfromance not fashion, but they look badass IMO.

Hope that helps.

On my FM5's the center section is machined aluminum with a clear coat over it, and the outer "ring" is polished with a rather thin coat of clear.

Pic's through the sig.

Love them FM5's.. I almost got a set of used 18" HRE's but the guy still wanted $4000 for them!!!

Boyd makes some very nice wheels for the $$$$
