Default Zaino Application! About to do it the first time

Hi all!

Just wondering if anyone could offer some helpful tips for my first zaino application! I bought a z06 two years ago with zaino having been used on it and have been thoroughly impressed with the finish. So I bought everything and want to try it out on my T/A!

My plan is -

Wash - Mothers gold car wash
Clay - Zaino clay
Wash - Dry with microfiber
Z5 - Swirl remover Apply/Remove with Z6 Detailer x 2
Z2 - Final coat Removed with Z6 Detailer.

I'm using the zfx accelerator, but I know I can only do 3 coats a day. Can I drive the car right away or does the wax need time to cure?
Also I've heard to wet my applicators for the wax to apply thinner...
Any other tips would be great!

Thanks

I always say follow the Manufacture Recommondation. As I generally follow the Meguiar's Product line and with their line, after claying an drying a car I can use their Glaze (#7 Show Car), and a Wax Sealant (NXT 2.0) and top with their Carnuba (#26 Hi-Tech Yellow) and yeild spectacular results.

But some Manufacture Products require a Super Clean Surface, Often seeing people conduct a Alcohol Wipe down of the surface before Sealing and Glazes are used as a top coat.

Hope this helps, I do not use Zaino but I have seen many cars with it and the Results have always been Positive.

** on a side note, it is best NOT to drive the car, if you can, curing time helps the wax set up before introducing a new layer or if it rains while your driving. I cannot comment on the applicator but when it comes to some spray waxes, having a moistened MF will help the Spray wax move around and flash dry and then you can wipe off with a dry MF as if you use only a Dry MF, it tends to absorb the Spray wax instead of letting it bond with the surface.

If you are going down the Z2/Z5 route you dont need to use the ZFX cure accelerator. Also, be careful with claying as it causes marring on the paint and *usually* requires polishing of the paint to remove some of the scratches it sometimes causes.

I lightly damp the applicator pad so that the zaino goes a longer way and it tends to be easier to remove this way. Also, if the paint does have some swirls/scratches, I would finish off with Z5 as the last step rather than Z2 due to the fact that it does a better job of hiding the swirls/other paint imperfections.

Striker -

I was under the impression if you didn't use the accelerator no matter what product you use it would take an exceptionally long time to dry? I know z2 has better optics so I was thinking use 2 coats of z5 to fill in marks initially, and use z2 for deeper shine. Now you polish with a machine after claying? I used mothers previously and never did this

On a side note, can I use any dishwash detergent initially to get rid of all old waxes? or must it be dawn?

Thank you all!

I've used any dishwashing soap. Claying again, if your not careful will cause marring, no doubt about it, especially aggressive clays. I just bought some Sonus Green Clay that's very gentle and does not cause any marring (still awaiting to try it)

I was told by my Zaino rep that if you go back and forth (Z2-Z5 or vise versa) you don't need the accelerator. If you're doing Z2 and want to layer that, well than I guess according to Zaino you do need the "cure accelerator"

For some odd reason, and I am no chemist by any means, I have a gut feeling that the ZFX is just a BS product that is not a must. Think about it, it also costs more than Z2/Z5 but, wtf do I know
