Default Daytime Running Lights

I don't have a problem with the daytime part of the deal, but I do have a problem with the night time part. There are times when I would really like to be able to turn off my lights at night without turning off my car and setting the parking brake before restarting it. My question is: can I wire a push button switch that will turn the lights off but still have the ability to turn them on with the dash controller?

Here is the easiest fix. On your dash where the defrost comes out you can see your alarm indicator light. Right beside the red led is the photo sensor for the auto-headlights. there is a seam between the front of the dash and the defrost vent. Pull up the vent half and twist out the photo sensor. Pop the top off of the sensor and put in a 10k ohm resistor. drop it back in the hole and reseat the dash. Your headlights now only work when you use the switch. That is how I did mine.

You can also pull the radio out and reach behind it to get to the photo sensor. I also like the lights coming on automatically (cause I am lazy) but I HATED that I couldn't turn them off.

hope that helps.

I did this and I am extremely happy with the results. I can now drive in stealth mode when necessary. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
