Whoops....

I was backing up a weird cul-de-sac'd street and didn't notice the curbs stuck out WAAAAYYY more than normal (which don't stick out at all) and slammed into the curb at about 15-20 mph....in reverse. This is my drivers side rear Spyder.
This happened Saturday (7/17/10) night and surprisingly, it's still holding air. I actually drove home like this on the street. The wheels got about 15-20 miles on it in this condition. I'm just too scared to drive it now. Anyway, I've gotten a replacement now and just need to stripe it and slap it on. The tire is fine and it just seems that the beading on the tire is low enough that 3 days later it will STILL hold air and not leak.
I've got the missing piece at home and it's interesting that it bent and THEN broke off under the stress of a 3600 lbs. car. These wheels are really resilient to stupidness..... and now I know first hand.
godamn i've never seen a rim so bad
edit* just read your story. man that sucks. at least you still got the tire and you already have a replacement
