How to install ashtray lid spring

You take out the upper center console part (the whole thing). You do this by taking off the shifter handle and putting it in neutral or something so the console will smoothing come out. Then you should see the 2 prongs on the ash tray and the lid (underneath the console). Just bend and wiggle the spring so its ends go into the little holes on those 2 prongs.
I'm sorry if it's hard to understand haha. It's kind of hard to explain. If you want, I can take some pics for you.
Not sure what handle you have, but on mine, there's a little staple on the side that faces the dash. You use a flat head to pull it out just a bit. Just enough so you can slide the handle off.
Then you put the shifter in neutral or something (KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE). Then you can start to pull up on the upper center console. You'll need to disconnect any wires going to the console (glove box light, shift indicator illuminator, Shift Perform if you have it). Then you'll be able to pull up the whole console.
In this pic, you'll be able to see those prongs that I was talking about and you should be able to see how the spring goes.
I hope this helps. I'm a '95 Trans Am, so it could be a little different if you're a different year or a Camaro.
