Default carpet dye

i know its been discussed on here b4 but what good dyes or spray paints are out there for carpets.....i'm finally piecing together my interior swap but i couldnt track a carpet down.....for a temporary period i was just planning on dyeing my tan carpet black till i sell some stuff to get the new one.....i'll hopefully work out good on this deal cause i'm ending up with 2 sets of front seats and all the rest of the ebony panels from a trans am to swap withmy tan interior soi figure after im done piecing together the pass seat i'll have a mint interior and then i'll resell my tan interior and the 2 extra ebony ta seats...so any opinions will the spray dye work and hold up long enough or is there something better to use

well i was anxious to start on my interior so i went ahead a got a few cans of rustolium fabric and vinyl dye....i figured it would be no loose since i plan on replacing the carpet anyways down the line.....i got 3 cans but it doesnt look like it will be enough but i at least got all the visible areas covered good.....the drivers seat is now bolted in and oh my god the trans am seats feel so much better then the camaro seats....tomorrow i drive to jersey and get the rest of the interior and hopefully have at least 1 good bottom cushion out of the 2 front seats to get the pass seat bolted in and then i'll have the rest of the covers repaired so i can sell the 2 non lumbar trans am seats to recoupe some of my money...i'll have pics up as soon as i'm done with the swap

personally although i'm changing out the carpet and all i'd rather have to clean my mats then the carpets when i step in something or spill something...and if i do go to a cruise in or something i can just pull the mats then and i'll have black carpet under

You could probably just buy a decent set of floor mats for now for just a little more than a couple of cans of dye, plus they'll last longer than the dye.

The dye tends to rub off on heavy traffic areas.

Where do you find that dye locally?

I bought some floormats with the Firebird logo off CL that were tan, First I tried spraying them with interior paint from autozone that was supposed to work on carpet, it looked like **** and didn't soak to the bottom very well. I went to Wal-mart and got a box of black RIT fabric die and soaked them overnight and they turned out great. Its been about 4 months and they haven't faded
